Help protect yourself and your property. Don't be a victim
of a crime of opportunity.
What are crimes of opportunity? They are crimes that happen
because of carelessness or comfort. How do you protect yourself
from crimes of opportunity?
Here is how:
- Make sure you lock your car when you get out, even at
home. Do not leave items out in plain view in your car.
- Make sure your garage door is closed when you are not in
it.
- Make sure all windows and doors are locked before you leave.
- Do not leave bicycles outside unsecured.
- Get to know your neighbors and have them watch your house
and you watch theirs.
- Have someone you know check your house when you are out
of town.
- Keep a list of your property. (Make, Model, Serial Number)
- Have your jewelry photographed and appraised.
- Mark items with an engraver. (Engrave your name or initials
on the item)
- Thieves and Burglars usually don't look suspicious. However
they do not look familiar either.
- Trust your instincts! Report persons, vehicles, or actions
that cause you concern to the Hoschton Police Department:
911.
