Welcome to the Hoschton City Hall and City Clerk’s office. The City Clerk is appointed by the Mayor and City Council and serves as the Chief Administrative Officer for the City. Responsibilities include supervising, coordinating and planning the day-to-day administrative activities of the City and providing guidance and direction to the various Departments in carrying out policies established by the City Council.

The City Clerk’s office maintains official records and provides support for the City Council by preparing agendas and supporting documents for City Council meetings and issuing notices of public meetings. The office processes applications for occupational licenses, business licenses, and zoning variances and also provides information services to the public and City staff and coordinates City elections.

The City Clerk represents the City with other governmental agencies, maintains annual budget information for the City Council and coordinates a variety of public information resources for internal and public dissemination. The City Clerk participates in long-range planning and develops recommendations concerning public policy matters for City Council consideration.

Georgia’s open meetings law and open records law are commonly referred to as the “sunshine law.” The open meetings law requires that citizens have notice and access to meetings of the city council as well as those of other governmental boards, committees, commissions and authorities. The open records law establishes the procedure for providing city and other governmental records to anyone requesting to see them.

The law gives citizens the opportunity to learn about how government works, how tax dollars are spent, and how decisions that affect their lives are enacted. Access to city government is vital to fostering public trust in the actions of city officials. Citizens are encouraged to attend all meetings of the City Council, held at City Hall on the following dates:
